{Sunday, June 05, 2005 . now is the summer of our buying things and going on adventures}
I got a bike on e-bay. It's a fully restored mid-60's bike, low to the ground for little people like me, with thick wheels and pedal brakes. And we got it for only $40. I won't be driving for a while, so I hope it comes soon so I can stop walking everywhere.
I filled out an application to work at PrarieFest, and since I can't drive, I decided to walk to Prarie Point to turn it in. I calculated that it was probably a five mile walk, but it really didn't seem all that bad. I went and dropped off my application, and on the way I documented all the cute little things I saw along my suburban path. Visit the Buzznet to view the pictoral essay!
I went to the Kane County flea market with my mom yesterday. I never appreciated just how awesome the flea market was until yesterday. I got a metal sign that was made to look vintage - a young, petite woman in a navy uniform with the caption "Gee, I wish I were a man! I'd join the navy!" then underneath, "Be a man and do it - U.S. Navy Recruiting Center." I also got a whole bunch of records, among them a copy of The White Album for only $10. Finally, the piece of resistance, I got TWO trombones, each for about $100, each worth easily three or four times as much. I think that would be a great way to make money. The antique dealers at the flea market don't usually deal in instruments - they don't know how much they are really worth. So I could go into the flea market and buy up all the grossly underpriced instruments and sell them for as much as they are actually worth. I could make a few hundred per instrument, easily. I'll be rich! Or at least I'll soften the blow of paying for college.
I also saw Lords of Dogtown yesterday. Very bad idea. I strongly suggest against it.
And I went to Beeky Leeky's graduation party. She made the wise decision to keep the friends and family separate, which I appreciate.
Go to the buzznet, and I will work on correctly following Fauth's instructions for putting pictures in a post.
